Looking into a Mirror
Looking into a mirror,
views warped by light,
reflections of the past,
removed from our sight.
Playing hank panky
and bending glass,
time can prove
never to pass.
Looking out
over fields of fire,
smoke pouring out
of my funeral pyre.
Clouds floating
in loose packs
across the heavens,
my eye tracks.
Looking about
for a special place,
a place to hide
from the rat race.
running away
and hiding my head
sounds in my ears
of the grateful dead.
Shucking responsibility
covering ground
unearthing the
feelings I've found.
Search the beach
without a tear
looking around,
the coast is clear.
life is like
a pair of prisms
what you see
appears as truisms.
But actually
everything was fake,
life is simply
what you make.
enjoy what you've got
as long as you can,
then forget it,
do you understand?
Leave the past behind
as far back as possible,
ride into the sunset,
life's always impossible.
