SuperBowl Sunday - Problems with the 100S.

HELP!??!

January 26th, 2003

Dug into doing some of the maintenance work on the other half's 93 Audi 100S today (plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and general check-it-out), and came across two problems that I'd love some assistance with (in part because my Bentley manuals won't be here for another couple weeks). Both issues and both images are from the driver's side of the engine.

1. Was working on the spark plugs and I noticed that the vacuum line from what I am guessing is a PCV valve to high up on the firewall was loose. I went to check the hose and found somebody had placed a screw into the PCV valve (?) at the inlet for the vacuum hose to the firewall. What I need is a valid part number for this item, if anyone can cross reference it for me, and some clue as to what that particular vacuum line drives in the dash.
[See both pictures below, item marked as item #1]

2. Also found a shielded wire with a circular crimp on the end going from what appears to be the brake distribution unit disconnected and hanging free on the far end. [See Picture Below, showing the connected end, marked Item #2] Trying to find out whether this item should be grounded, connected to some sensor and/or if the item should be connected to some specific point. Any insight appreciated.
